Last Summer I attended the Dirty Toy School in Grand Junction Colorado. The School was a training session with Chris Neslon and Bill Birke. The following is a quote from a message I sent them about my attendance:
“I am very happy to have attended the first Dirty Toy School in Grand Junction, Colorado. Having already taken my FJ Cruiser off road a number of times I attended this event to improve my driving skills, determine what the limits are for both me and the FJ, and learn additional recovery skills. Most of my off-road trips are as a single vehicle for family back-country camping trips where it is critical to stay within the limits of both my and the FJ’s abilities. I also need to have a good understanding of solo vehicle recovery using the winch, Hi-lift and other available tools.
After 2 days of working with Bill and Chris I feel much more comfortable with the limits of the FJ and more so of driving abilities. Time was spent with Bill going over recovery skills with a large emphasis on safety and thoughtful consideration to techniques being applied. Chris helped me take the FJ to the limit on sandstone ledges and gave me some key pointers to better tackle obstacles in the future. I highly recommend this class for those that have a 4WD Toyota and are ready to head off road and needs to learn the basic required skills.”
