Our way north was continued from Prince Rupert to Juneau on the Alaska Marine Highway. We spent the night prior to boarding in a Prince Rupert Hotel near the ferry terminal to make the morning start of 3:30 am a little easier. We were one of the first in line to board the ferry and Dale took the chance to make coffee under the cover of the Customs area.
Once customs opened we made our way to line up in the boarding queue. Once boarded we found our berths to settle in for the 30 hour trip to Juneau. The ferry follows the inside passage with stops at a number of small towns. We took advantage of the time on the ferry to relax knowing that we were nearing the driving portion of the trip.
The food on-board the ferry was nothing spectacular so we took advantage of the stops in a number of small towns along the way to disembark and purchase food. The view from the ferry deck was spectacular with the sunset being especially colorful. We passed a number of cruse ships that were also following the inside passage. With darkness falling the ferry turned into the Wrangell Narrows. This section made me appreciate the skill of the captain in guiding the ferry between the mountain peaks following the red and green lights of marker buoys.
Once clear of the Narrows the ferry made its last stop at Petersburg prior to our Arrival in Juneau.
With the ferry landed in Juneau we disembarked and made our way to the Spruce Meadow RV Park for our stay. We had daylight hours left to start our exploration of Juneau.
