I always feel that a trip is not complete without a stop at a hot springs. For my return trip from Alaska I made a stop at Liard River Hot Springs in BC, Canada. The hot springs is a Provintial Park with camping and facilities available. The springs are a part of a much larger geothermal area. Reading the interpretive signs indicated that the area around the springs becomes a large oasis for wild life during the cold winter months. During the winter months the ground around the springs remains bare of snow so there is foraging available. The spring is situated in the Boreal Forest.
The Soaking pool is at the across a long raised boardwalk that crosses the warm swampy area. Once at the soaking pool I found a clean changing room as well as a new composting bathroom facility. The boardwalk provides handicap access.
