Leaving Campbell River we headed into the norther reaches of Vancouver Island. Here the highway left the coast and took us through timber cutting country. Our first stop was at a small rustic restaurant over looking a picturesque lake. The stop was well worth the wonderful cinnamon roles that we found inside.
We made a few side trips to view some of the log sorting yards. These yards take in the timber that has been cut, then sort it and drop it into the water to be transported to mills.
The rest of the day was a uneventful with us reaching our destination, Port Hardy, late afternoon. It was early to bed so as to be ready to be at the ferry terminal at the break of dawn for our departure north.
