This last Sunday we took a picnic trip in the Pike National Forest for fathers day. Living on the west side of Colorado Springs we are lucky to have the national forest right out our back door.
Our destination was a sub-alpine park at the base of Almagre called Elk Park. Looking west from the park. The drive up Old Stage was a dusty washboard ride. I aired down to 24 PSI at home which eased the bumps some.
We arrived in Elk Park at about 1:30 and enjoyed a few hours in the sun and a wonderful lunch packed by Nancy and LJ.
After lunch we went and drove part of the Bull Park road. We will save the full run to Bull park for another day.
