Dealing with ice and snow on the windscreen has always been a problem. Using winter blades keeps ice from freezing in the blade holder but ice and snow will still build up on the blade. A few members on the site http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/ recommended trying EVERBLADES heated wipers.
After checking out the EVERBLADES website I decided to order a set to try out. The blades can be ordered with just the blade heated or the blade and holder heated. I opted for the later due to ice freezing in the holder causing the blades not to flex when moving on the windshield.
The blades are made to order and it took about a week to receive them. With other projects and other stuff going on it took some time to get them install. However, March is the snowiest month in Colorado Springs so I should get some good test time in the next 45 days.
Installing the blades is no different than replacing a normal set and took about 15 Minutes. The wiring of the heaters will take some time. I routed the wires under the body panel that covers the wiper mechanism. The kit comes with a switch and fuse holder. I opted not to use this and instead wired the blades into my existing accessory power system and used an available switch in my current switch panel. The total installation took about 1.5 hours. Expect to spend more time if you need to rout the wires to a dash switch location.
Now I am just waiting for a good snowy day to give them a test. Look for a report on how well the blades function.
