The Golight Stryker is a remote operated spotlight that utilizes halogen technology. I currently have two of the lights install on my Toyota FJ Cruiser. I recently sent one of the lights to MagnaLight for an HID upgrade.
The upgrade includes an integrated HID bulb and ballast as well as an external antenna for the remote control. The external antenna has increased the range and reliability of the remote control. The HID upgrade increases the intensity and focus of the light.
During my trip to Mexico last week I was able to compare the standard halogen and HID lights. The HID cast a very focused high intensity beam. The color of the light is much whiter than the Halogen lamp. Being able to move further from the FJ with the remote able to still control the lamp will be an asset in many situations. The 35 watt HID lamp draws 1/2 the amps of the normal halogen bulb which increases the efficiency of the lamp and with out the engine running will slow the battery drain.
The photos bellow show the higher intensity of the HID lamp. The photos were both taken with a 50 mm Lens at 4 second and F 4.5.
New Golight Strykers can be purchased directly from Magnalight with the HID upgrade pre-installed.
