Death Valley – Day 2

For our start on day 2 we left Richfield, Utah at 8:30 heading south on I-70 towards I-15. It was a cold morning with temps in the negative single digits so we were very happy to have spent the night in the hotel.  As we headed south the temperatures started to warm which was a good sign.

Once in Nevada we decided to brave the asphalt jungle and drive the strip in Las Vegas.  LJ and Nancy have never been there and I wanted them to see what it was like.  We spent most of an hour going part way down the strip then got out of that jungle and back to the interstate.

After stopping to get gas, water and a few other items we headed west on Highway 160 towards Death Valley.  We entered the Death Valley on Highway 190 and arrived at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center early enough to pick up a map and the Death Valley SUV Trails guide.  Once done we headed up Echo canyon to find a place to setup camp.
