Having a grill along on camping trips greatly expands the capabilities of the camp kitchen. I started out with a Colman grill but found that the grill did not cook hot enough and the construction was not up to the challenge of extended off-road travel.
Looking further I found a company that makes a portable grill that is 100% stainless steel and designed to hold up to the rigors of marine use. The grill also uses infrared grilling technology.
The Solaire Anywhere Portable grill is not cheap with a retail price of $400.00 but you do get what you pay for. The infrared burner heats in less than 5 minutes and heats to over 1000 degrees.
I have used the grill for a number of trips at altitudes up to 11,000 feet and the performance has been fantastic. The grilling surface is small but works well for the 3 in our group.
The grill has adjustable feet to level it on a uneven surface. Also included is an electronic ignition that is powered by 1 AAA battery. After a few months use the ignitor stopped and I am guessing it needs to be replaced. The grill can be fueled by 1lb camping canisters; however I have a hose that connects it to my 20 lb tank attached to my trailer. The small canisters tend to last for only one or two uses.
We use this grill at home and on the road and have been very happy with grilling fish, chicken and other items.
After a summer of use I am very pleased with the performance of this grill.
