Canyonlands Maze 2008 – Day 3

With Doll House only about 20 miles from Tea Pot we did not have to rush to get an early start. Tea Pot Rock is where the most difficult section of the trail begins. The next 5 miles take to take over an hour. Having never been here we did not know what to expect.

Finally a sign that means what it says

Starting out down into the Maze

The trail followed the rim stone around the head a Teapot Canyon. This section needed to be taken at a slow crawl but did not present any major obstacles. However, I would not take a stock SUV through this section. There were a number of great photo opportunities of the FJ’s in action.

Land of the Standing Rocks

Halfway into our 3rd day we are finally entering The Maze Area. This section of the drive takes us through The Land of the Standing Rocks. The large monoliths stand in stark contract to the wide expanse wide open area.

tomas

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
