Light is key to having a workable camp. I gave up on gas lanterns last year after finding that the mantles where breaking almost every time I moved camp. Gas lanterns are very bright and can light an entire work area. Initially I thought I would try to replicate this with LED lanterns.
I purchased 4 Brunton Gorb XB 3 Watt LED lanterns. My theory was I would place a few of the lanterns around camp to yield enough light to work by. Well, this failed. The Gorb lanterns cast enough light to see and perform some tasks but I find that I cannot cook with the light or read by it.
I will still be using the Gorb lanterns but will supplement them with a good head lamp.
