Sometimes it takes a Toyota FJ Cruiser to get a 4 wheeler out of a mud hole. This is a first for myfjcruiserorg. The driver of this ATV was trying to keep to the rules and stay on the road. He got into the hole and did not make it through. All tires were spinning and the bottom was resting on the mud. He first attempted to use his own winch to pull himself forward to through the hole using another ATV as an anchor. No go, all he was doing was pulling the other ATV down into the hole with him.
We were camped right above the the hole and had come to observe the fun they were having. After using the problem using the ATV as the anchor I offered up the FJ. I pulled the FJ around the he attempted to use the FJ as the anchor. The pull did not work. I then tried to pull him about using his winch line forward and the line parted at a wear point.
It was time to get my Superwinch into play. Looking at the situation I figured I would pull the front off the ATV if I attempted to pull him forward. We decided to use a redirect to pull him backwards out of the hole. Rigging the pull took my snatch block, winch extension, tree strap and one a yank strap.
He was stuck well, with only one wrap left on the winch I was able to pull him out but the winch did feel it.
