I finally finished my new slide out for my new model ARB Fridge / Freezer. The new slide is an evolution from the original that I built for my old fridge. Here is a series of photos showing the construction.
The fridge extends out of the back to help facilitate access.
When stowed the fridge fits as if designed for the space. The back of the fridge is against the rear seat and the front just touches the rear door.
The slide is fabricated out of steel stock that I purchased at Home Depot. The part in the center at the rear is the stop for the slide which removes the stress from the rail stops.
The slide is bolted through the FJ Cruiser rear floor. I used fender washers on the backs side to distribute the stress on the sheet metal.
Unlike my original design, this slide bolts to the ARB Fridge which provides a very solid attachment.
The latch is designed to hold the fridge in when stowed. I have a little more work to do on the latch so it work on its own when the fridge is stowed. I will be adding a spring to it as well as a stop to prevent it from dropping down when not latched.
The side view shows how easy the access will be.
I still need to complete the slide cover which will provide a sleeve that the fridge slides into. With the cover I will be able to load gear in the rear compartment with out affecting the fridges ability to slide out.
